Iceland

This is perhaps the most eerie landscape I have visited, dominated by the geological forms of steaming volcanic rock. The whole island appeared to be alive, with spluttering geysers, solidified lava and pumice like oozing toothpaste, and hot mud underfoot.

Bands of thick cloud drifted in front of moody black volcanoes giving an impression of an eruption, and craters were filled with puddles of silica in aqua or cloudy turquoise.
